Building Chacc for Offisanté — One Mobile App for Two Operating Systems

Offisanté needed a single native mobile application to help pharmacies validate promotional activities for laboratories, pharmacy groups, and service providers. Cyclad built Chacc from scratch using NativeScript on Angular — a cross-platform solution that runs natively on both Android and iOS while leveraging device capabilities like geolocation, camera, and push notifications.

Challenge

Offisanté's business model revolves around empowering pharmacies to prove the proper implementation of promotional activities for laboratories, groups of pharmacies, and other service providers. To scale this operation, they needed a mobile app that could assign small "missions" to users — such as taking a photo, answering a questionnaire, making a price statement, or leaving a note — at assigned pharmacies. The key challenge was building a single native app that would work seamlessly on both Android and iOS while incorporating geolocation to find the nearest pharmacy and a real-time notification system to alert users of new missions.

  • Build one native app that covers both Android and iOS from a single codebase
  • Add geolocation to help users find the nearest assigned pharmacy
  • Include a notification system so users receive new missions in real time
  • Enable photo and video capture, questionnaires, and price statements as mission types

Solution

To help pharmacies prove the proper implementation of promotional activities for laboratories, groups of pharmacies, or other service providers, Cyclad built a new native app for Offisanté using NativeScript on Angular. This app is called Chacc. Chacc allows users to earn money by completing small "missions" in assigned pharmacies, like taking a picture, answering a questionnaire, making a price statement, or leaving a note. Once users are registered, they start receiving missions. After a mission is completed and validated, the administrator contacts the user to arrange the payment.

The development approach centered on NativeScript's ability to compile to truly native iOS and Android applications from a single TypeScript and Angular codebase. This eliminated the need to maintain separate native development teams while still delivering the performance and UX of a native app. Geolocation services were integrated to help users discover nearby pharmacies, and Firebase Cloud Messaging powered the push notification system that alerts users to new available missions in real time.

Results

The native app was delivered fully operational on both Android and iOS on time. Chacc runs smoothly and fast, and helps pharmacies drive innovation and foresee customer needs by offering crucial KPIs. Its functionalities include photo and video submission, geolocation to find the nearest assigned pharmacy, and a notification system built with Firebase to receive new missions as soon as they become available.

What Cyclad says about the project

Since we used to build mostly separate native apps for both operating systems, developing an app from scratch using NativeScript was a great learning experience for our team. We delivered according to plan, and we're proud of the results – both in terms of UI and speed.
